Still on a crazy fabric shopping binge. I’m currently in the market for some cheap cantilevered chairs that I can reupholster like these:

Perennials’ City Kitty ought to do. Plus it will repel milk and jelly. I’m hoping to have wood or cane backs and fabric seats only to do it myself and cut down on yardage… maybe 3 yardsish? I can do that.

It’s going to be awesome with my million dollar marble table, which I FINALLY ORDERED.
It’s supposed to be here Thursday (!!!!!!!).
Also arriving Thursday is the newly hired cleaning lady, which I’m hoping will change my life. Sadly right now I’m just suffering from panic attacks about the Katrina like state of disaster in our house, and how much work it’s going to take to pick up before she can even clean.
I have seven weeks before my due date to get this house whipped into shape. Must solve curtain conundrum (blue velvet was not a winner), paint master bedroom (peach is not going well), wallpaper the nursery and the foyer, finish the front room and dinette areas.
So, you know, not much.
Also, I should probably wash some onesies or whatever.
Meanwhile, Ike’s room is done. Finished. Completeasaurus Rex.
Reveal coming this week… Stay tuned.

Ike’s room finished? Wheeeeeee! Can’t wait for the big reveal! Good for you for hiring a cleaning lady…you will be very, very glad you did.
The chairs/upholstery are perfect. I think the seven-week deadline is bringing out some serious inspiration!
I live vicariously via your lofty ambitions. I feel like a sloth in comparison. You will make it happen, no doubt here and I can’t wait to see that table, finally, in situ. And Ike’s room! So exciting!!!!
The cleaning lady will change your life! It changed mine and not just because it turned me into my mom because I now clean for the cleaning lady.
Cannot wait to see Ike’s room reveal! I purchased crib sheets for our nursery and big brother’s room looks like a yard sale. I have 11 weeks to go so I am encouraged by your post!
i want a cleaning lady like nobody’s business. can’t wait to see the little man’s room! and the table…and the chairs…and final curtain decisions…i live for your progress. ox
1. Can’t wait to see Ike’s room 2. Congrats on the table. 3. Nice job on the Katrina reference. xoxo
Wallpapering is way easier than people claim that it is (only because they’ve seen that dumb ad photo of the woman with wallpaper on her head and think it’s IMPOSSIBLE. And just because the wallpaper falls on your head a few times does not mean that you’ve failed, BTW. It will still go back on the wall). But I’ve never tried to do it in the third trimester of pregnancy. So I’m cautiously fascinated by how this will go. How high are your ceilings? Will ladders be necessary?
Congrats on sealing the deal on the table. Always a relief to get a major acquisition finished. As to curtains…sorry to hear the blue wasn’t a winner. Target also sells nice cotton velvet panels ($30 each), and they have a really beautiful deep cranberry red. Not what you want. They also have something called rocky river – a soft watery blue. I don’t know whether that would work with your color scheme. They also have brown (naturally). And this taffeta thing in gold, on “sale”: http://www.target.com/p/target-home-faux-silk-window-panel/-/A-14006489. Hmm…
Hmmm, I didn’t even think to look at Target. I’ll check out the watery blue velvet ones if I can find them.
Ceilings aren’t high… hopefully I will survive wallpaper 101. If not, my mom can help when she comes to see the baby. She’s a pro.
your chair/fabric choice will be genius with your new table! can’t believe you pulled the trigger. yay!! i am super excited to see Ike’s room so don’t keep us waiting too long. wallpapering isn’t too bad as long as you have partner. you can do it!
Happy summer! I love the marble table! I loved keeping up with your blog! Love, Jamie Herzlinger
what a coincidence..i too am looking for similar chairs to reupholster in similar fabric.
i think you should go full animal though.
cannot wait for ike’s room and all the rooms. i love you so hard.
Check out Summer’s post over at Modernhaus blog – she is on Instagram too!!
She may be selling a set…
I have 3 boys (2, 4, & 6) and couldn’t survive without a cleaning lady. We spend about 3 hours preparing for her to come. She can’t clean the island with 3 feet of crap on it. This is why we have a cleaning lady, because we use all our time and energy just picking up the stuff so the real cleaning, as in using actual cleaning products, can begin. Best money ever spent. Now if I could just afford to have her clean the toilets everyday…3 little boys, you get the picture.
I am looking for the exact same kind of chairs! Good luck.
My husband goes into a frenzy of getting the house “ready” for the cleaners every other Tuesday morning. (If it motivates him to pick stuff up, I guess I should be pleased.) The cleaners have seen far worse than your house – relax!
You don’t have to do any of these things — cut yourself some slack! We’ve all grown up in houses with undone projects. All will be well!
If you put those chairs with that table, I will devote my life to you!
AMEN to cleaning lady. Life changing. Makes me feel rich, unlike my unfinished projects.
If you are thinking frenchy fabric on front of seat back, caning on the back….watch out. I understand that may make the upholstery harder. If you are going Florida 70s, disregard the above warning.
Damn, I’m pissed off the blue velvet curtains didn’t work. I’m an e-design friend consultant failure! Can’t wait to see that table, though. Ike’s room too. Should be a good week!
Congratulations on ordering the table!!!
