Today marks the second visit of the cleaning lady, and I’m pretty sure she’s going to mutiny when she sees how dirty this place has gotten in two weeks. Little does she know that my cat attracts leaves like velcro and paint in the sink is a state of being over here. But she might also notice that since the last time she was here, new curtains were boughten and the bedroom has been painted and my shelves for the front room are back, sporting a fresh coat of glossy paint.
Good things. Things that will appear in pictures soon. I promise.
Some bad things might have happened, too. Things like our fancy marble dining table arrived cracked down the middle. And I didn’t order enough wallpaper for the baby’s room. And I’m 99% sure I didn’t order enough wallpaper for the powder room, either… did someone say wallpaper calculator? Who? Wha?
I don’t know — maybe it’s the fact that I’m dead tired and HUGE, but I just don’t care anymore.

That’s why they call me mellow yellow…
today.
Tomorrow I will assuredly have a nervous breakdown since I’ve been with Ike all day all summer with no school, plus his birthday party is this Saturday and I haven’t prepped AT ALL.
Oh and the baby will be here in a month.
Mellow yellow, dudes.
Mellow.

glad to hear you’re taking it all in stride (today)! sounds to me like you’ve made lots of progress! can’t believe your long awaited table was cracked. bummer. are they sending a replacement? wallpaper calcs are tricky, esp. for the math challenged like myself! no sweat, right? it’ll get done!
Dude!! The table was cracked?!? Do they know they’re dealing with a pregnant woman?? WTF. Also, did you ever show us pics of Ike’s new room?? I’m dying of anticipation over here!!
That’s uncool about that table.
I do not understand the very large velvet cushion on the floor in the picture above.
Also, wallpaper – I calculatored myself to exhaustion, and in one room I had to patch in a piece from an around-the-doorway cutout to finish the last length; in another, I ended up with nearly an extra roll. My math skills were, I would have argued, the same during both processes, but my results were not.
Did you factor in repeat size? That’s the biggest hassle, in terms of complexity of calculations and also expense (large repeat = PIA). Once you’re holding the paper in your own little paws, it seems so easy to figure out exactly what effect the repeat will have, but conceptualizing it beforehand is mind-numbing. (Possible in theory. Just mind-numbing.)
Good news: you can buy more wallpaper.
Also, it warms my heart to hear that someone else always has paint in the sink. (And maybe sometimes on the backs of spoon handles. Ahem.)
I need some of that juice you’re drinking. I am in much the same boat, nerves-wise. And I am neither yellow, nor mellow. I also can not believe your table came damaged!!!! I am so, so sorry. After our lengthy discussions I feel partially responsible. I hope they can remedy the situation immediately. But I can’t wait to see your gorgeous glossy shelves!!!
Happy birthday to our boys! I forgot that Ike and Josh have the same birthday. Don’t feel bad, I’m going birthday present shopping tomorrow and, as of yet, no cake has been ordered. See, same boat.
xoxo
I used to have a cleaning lady but then she got too expensive and it became a hassle to clean up for the cleaning lady. Sad, I know. I swear I’m not a hoarder. It is SOOO nice, though to have someone to help especially in your uber pregnant state.
Sorry about the wallpaper snafus. I’ve never attempted wallpaper but I’m sure I would do the same thing. Glad you’re staying mellow. Sometimes, that’s all you can do!
Ok, I’m pinning the shit out of this page. Love these rooms, and I don’t normally do yellow.
Sucks about all that stuff but if it makes you feel better, you get more stuff done pregnant than I do after 4 coffees.
And happy early birthday to Ike!
im gonna be the super asshole and say…JUST SHOW ME YOUR DAMN ROOM ALREADY!!!
but you should know that i am dead tired too. pregnant tired and i’m not pregnant. i think it’s called 100+ temps tired…but man i’m tired too. and grouchy.
