In this household, we went from puke and pooh to massive amounts of dog hair. I don’t think we’ll ever live ‘clean’ again! We live with drop clothes on the sofa and lint rollers in every drawer. But so worth it.

I always imagine I would step in this room and say, “So pretty and pristin–holy crap I’ve gone blind! I can’t see anything!” And then smash all the furniture with my flailing and end up exhausted in a heap behind the bed.

I just cleaned poo off of a white couch-futon-stupid-thing today! Hooray for puke & poo, boo for white furniture. Enjoy the toes.

Awright- enough of this baby stuff. Let’s decorate! I had my kids a few years ago (they’re 4 and 6) and now I am in a decorating groove. I love your blog because your budget is about as small as mine, your tastes and mine are similar, and you are about as indecisive as I am- not to mention that i love your irreverence. I hope that you recover from the new baby-itis soon and start throwing paint at the wall- I miss your posts.

In my home I have all-white furniture and burn-your-eyes out colors on the wall and paintings that are Mexico bright. It works. The white furniture is plastic (Verner Panton S Chairs) or leather, which are both easy to wipe off with a damp cloth. I have kind of a modernism meets craft theme going on and the white furniture is for the grown-up tastes, and all the color is for the kids- it makes the space fun for both age groups.

I do like white but that is slight over kill…looks like a room the White Witch from Narnia would sleep in. I too am surrounded by nappies and poop at the mo but wouldn’t change it

Yeah, I have a hard time convincing my childless friends that kids are actually worth all the trouble.
I like to think that children and/or pets are the reason I can’t have all white everything but that’s a huge lie. It’s totally me.

Little wee ones are so adorable and so worth it. I personally hate that all-white room (even if I didn’t have kids). Too sterile. Blah. Enjoy your time with your boys!
