Hey there, blog buddies! Did you survive the holidays unscathed? Maybe a little too much whipped cream and gravy? Perhaps a few blisters on your feet from waiting a million hours in line at Best Buy on Black Friday? I myself had a lovely, shopping free holiday filled with family and an utter lack of technology, including no phone service or internet. Them there’s some kind of pioneer days. We even survived baby Ike’s first long trip with only a few major tantrums. Unfortunately, I contracted a nasty case of super sickitis from hotboxing The Hunny’s germs while riding in the car for six hours. Gah, mouth breathing is so gross.

So today’s post will be short on words and long on pictures of Uxus Design’s renovation of a 18th century warehouse in Amsterdam, which was recently awarded Best Residential Interior for 2008. I’m curious what you all think of the rustic luxe with a taxidermy twist look.

Well, what do you think, my pretties? Do you feel at home with the rustic/industrial/apothecary/mod look?

Sorry I’m not my usual semi witty self, but never fear! Karly has a sweet giveaway cooking for tomorrow, and I shall return Thursday with something flashy fly. I hope. Oh, and next week we’ll be featuring our annual gift guide, so tune in starting on Monday for some great finds.

But for now, I just want to curl up into that bed and go sleepy night night.

I would enjoy visiting these people for three days or so – IMMENSELY. And that would be enough.

I love it. I could visit those people for months on end. Though I’d want to happy-it-up a bit. It’s a little somber. But, so elegant. And much yummy texture.

  3. Get well soon! I like it, but the neutrality with the creepiness bugs me a tad. Normallly, I love beige, white and black color scheme, but this is too much. Love the dining room chairs, light fixture and buffet thingee, though.

  4. It has elements I love, but I can’t get past that (discus throwing?) man sculpture. It’s kind of tacky. I also think some bits of humor would liven it up a bit.

Maybe that’s what the Elton John piano key jacket is for?

The Elton John piano key jacket is rocking my world (no pun intended) (really, not intended)

The candelabra in photo one is downright amazing. I want it. now.

Lots of interesting things (I particularly like the bedrooms), but a bit too clinical overall.

i love this, but I would like to add a bit of punk rock thrown in (maybe a little dash of this? http://tinyurl.com/ylr2z4j ) I know that the dash is not high design- but some of those rooms look just as somber with teal and flourescent teal and yellow. I’m over cute. I’m pretty much over whimsical. But this is lacking something. I think it’s color. And don’t call it a “pop”. hehe.

I think the space itself is pretty amazing and I really dig the use of the drapes…mucho sexy. But overall, a little clinical. Not that I would decline an invitation!

  9. Erica says:

It looks like a store, not a home. Does anyone really live there?

  10. Normajean says:

hmm… Toss a few of the sets of antlers (but maybe not all of them..) and the questionable art on and above the buffet, add some Jimmie Martin chairs, some luxe purple area rugs (I’m digging the grapes and lilacs in this DS post: http://www.designspongeonline.com/2008/03/new-mini-trend-purple.html ), some bright artwork, and I’d be pleased to call it my vacation home…

Normajean, love that you’ve taken on the redesign of this place! I like your Jimmie Martin suggestion.

Susan, how amazing are those day glo beds???? Hubba hubba!

  12. erin says:

Oh, and Erica, hello and welcome!

  13. Luuuurve it. Kinda creeped out by the bizzarro donkey thing, though.
