I probably shouldn’t complain about our cushy soft middle class life, but when one of your two (old and paid for) cars blows a head gasket and the other is taking in water fast enough to sink an Italian cruise ship, it hurts. Right now I am adding up couches and upholstery and wallpaper and getting very very very sad, because something has to give. Maybe food? Prenatal care? Preschool daycare?

Oh hell no. Anything but daycare.

In other news, I really like this color:

With this couch:

Our front room/study is painted almost that exact shade of peacocky teal (thank you, Sanders!), and Alexis is currently presiding over the room in all her 70s raggedy oatmeal tweed glory. You remember that bitch, right?

Yes — despite many reservations I kept her, and actually she fits perfectly into a tight space. So maybe if I eat wonderbread for a year I can afford to have Alexis recovered in some fabulous salmon velvet.

Say it with me: wonderbread grows healthy babies.

Things are going to be just fine.

Poop on that. But you know what they say, mo’ money, mo’ problems. I think Alexis would look hot in salmon. Maybe you’ll stumble upon something else perfect and sell Alexis for some mad cash. The good thing about sitting on purchases is sometimes the inspiration changes and the whole design is better because of it.

    too cheery?

  2. Damn cars. One of ours is almost paid for – yeah – and I just know it will fall apart shortly thereafter. Uggh. Sucks. But yes, I think she would look so pretty in that color. Or like Naomi said, you could sell her for something better – that’s the American way, right? Good luck with all and everything. I feel your pain.

i feel your pain! we have 2 old cars that are paid for & i know it would hard to have to fork over cash for big repairs (or god forbid, buy a new car!).

onto better things, that salmon velvet with teal walls would be incredible! can we take a peek at the room color?! i’m happy you held onto Alexis. she rocks

  4. I hears ya! Ive got car issues too. Just paid $1500 for a service to be told that it requires a further $3K. Shes a real pretty European lady, (oh she has a name, career & back story too!) but the moolah gives me night sweats.
So if you figure out how to go without food, let me know please…
is eye candy enough to sustain one self?

That salmon isn’t the least bit fishy. I saw a salmony oversized bench today at Homegoods….maybe it could hold you over!

Car issues over here too. Growing up, my dad’s family pinched pennies by eating things like pickle sandwiches and tomato soup made from ketchup.
Dont give up too many of the things that make you happy! Good luck!

I’m sorry about your car troubles, but OMG peacocky teal, do you know how obsessed I am with that color? Pictures, please.

isn’t that paint color amazing? i’ll keep my eye out on some fabulous salmony velvet for you (from the jobbers in the garment district, NOT a fancy-schmancy showroom, where people without car problems can afford to shop).

thanks for the shout out! loving that darn pinterest lately…

I loved your front room. The color was luscious. Sanders (once again) rocks!

Please tell me the name of this gray paint? it’s perfect!
