Hey All, it’s Karly!  I’ve come out from under the demolished-kitchen-shaped rock from which I’ve been hiding under to seek your renovation assistance.  Since I’m standing knee-deep in rubble over here and icky dust has settled in my brain, I’m having a hard time finding the light I’m lusting after at an affordable price.  But I know I can.  Despite the mess crumbling down around me I still hold strong to my motto:  I will buy it for half the price.  Also to my other motto:  no more horses.

So, can you help me or what?

I’m looking for a light sorta-kinda like this one.  It’s baby brother.  A wee bit shorter.  I have a very large window over my sink and want to mount a light like this on the wall beside it.  For less than $1,000,000 ok, less than $1,000.  who are we kidding, less than $10.

Certainly not $2,700, otherwise I would buy this:

Yes, this Serge Mouille light would do the trick if only it were (say it with me now) half of half of half of the price.  half it again.  yep, that should do it.

So, any ideas on where I can find something similar with a nice wingspan?  3 feet would be amazing.  okthanksbye

How about just getting a 2nd hand (or as they say in blogland, vintage) anglepoise lamp and mount it to the wall. If you can’t find black, spray it. OR, make it. you only need a bent pipe and a fancy bulb.

  2. I was about to suggest the West Elm one as well. But, oh, how I feel your pain. The Serge Mouille lights are sublime, but sublimely and ridiculously expensive. I’ve pinned a bunch of photos of them on Pinterest just to torture myself. Good luck with your search!

I knew Cassie could identify that stupid lamp… She knows everything!

Love the sconce jenny and Kathy recommended. Do it.

Or have matt do like Pieter said. And then tell matt to open an etsy shop of his own.

oh man, Erin said you guys would be helpful but this is beyond! Thanks everyone and keep it coming!

PS, I’ll give you kitchen updates as they come

These are pretty sweet and come in just under 1,000 http://www.workstead.com/modern-lighting-fixture.html

I feel like there was an online store somewhere in Ohio (Cleveland maybe?) that has ones very similar to the first picture for around $200. Of course I’m drawing a blank now…

Well, I just sent a Restoration hardware link to my daughter Caris who lives in Brooklyn (which is where the lighting fixture in the first photo was made)… she is looking for something similar and needs to keep it affordable. There is a pharmacy ceiling lamp with two arms that is on super sale… I am remembering $139.00? It is not bad, not bad at all. Run, run, run to the website and see it.

Welcome back, Karly. You’ve been missed.

Hey I’ve used this light on some design projects of ours and they make excellent products. This light is the perfect mini version of what you’re looking for if you ask me!

I was going to suggest the one featured on the Brick House also. Super inexpensive and if you know somebody who welds crazy easy to make!

That first picture is great…sexy, sleek, simple, and gray. Love it

I have this one from restoration hardware and it looks seriously rad: http://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod1690147&categoryId=cat1701019

However, I probably would have held off on buying that if i had known that this French company existed. A little pricier than Restoration but about as close to the Mouille feel as you can get. AMAZING: http://woandwecollection.blogspot.com/

A friend of mine at Yes Cincinnati makes some really simple versions like this, in various sizes: http://yescincinnati.com/shop/items/living/lights/cranelight.html

I too lust over Mouille and feel faint at the sight of the price. But look at all the fabulous, affordable alternatives! I was about to point you in the direction of West Elm and The Brick House, as well. Here’s another possibility…a frenchy original, industrial revamped version. Lots of these are sold, but the designer makes them so I bet he could configure one to your exact specifications. Kitchen progress photos, please!

I second the recommendation about the Wo and we-collection. This post immediately reminded me of Olivier’s work. His lamps are beautiful. He also has a great blog lewoandwe.blogspot.com
