I had ambitious plans to write an epic post regaling you with tales of golden glory longer than Rapunzel’s hair. But since I was up late helping the in laws move into their fancy new pad and didn’t even get to scarf down my pizza dinner until after 10 pm, I think I’m just going to keep it summer short (with some awesome good pictures at the end). Ok and maybe I was too busy swimming in their fancy new pool to put anything major major together…

Julie has already christened this “margaritaville” and I am quite sure she is right. Guess I’ll break that to the inlaws, uh… now. They read this little old blog sometimes.

Anyway, expect A LOT of paint, furniture and kitchen posts to come in the next weeks as the inlaws have a ton of decorating to do. Woo hoo! We already kicked things off with an inaugural trip to Ikea, where I spied the most amazing mirrored oven:

Sorry — pictures of this stupid oven are rarer than a one legged unicorn, but I think you get the idea. It’s insane. And I think it belongs in one of these kitchens:

yatzer gold cabinets

I haven’t the faintest idea what this gorgeous kitchen bar is made of… Karly would say angel tears.

Jesus, this kitchen even has a gold dishwasher, wtf do they need with a mirrored oven?

Uh…. yeah. Those cabinets + that oven = fingerprint hell. But also one heavenly kitchen.

Later, taters. I have important proxy shopping to do.

Thanks, Mark! I had decided it was copper, but oxidized brass is so much sexier. Wonder how that wears? brass is pretty soft…

That is a freakin’ awesome pool. So excited for you, uh, I mean your in-laws. Lucky folks!

  4. nkp says:

p.s.- yes, that counter is oxidized brass! OXIDIZED BRASS!!! Sorry for yelling.

Okay that kitchen has occupied my thoughts for a while now. Those counters. Oh my gosh! So gorgeous. If this were my kitchen, I’d dispense with cooking. Maybe eating too. I’d just pull up a stool and stare. Lovely.

  6. Can’t wait to see more progress from the in-laws new crib!
Love all those kitchens and that mirrored oven to bits too.
Would spend all day looking at my reflection as I grilled stuff.

That counter looks like oxidized brass with a living finish. I love it! I did a vanity top in this and it is fantastic and also quite affordable. I will say for anyone considering it that, as you can imagine, it shows rings and streaks – this is part of it’s beauty. What you may not have considered is that it scratches very easily – like sliding anything across it will scratch it. The god news is that felt buffs out the light scratches and you learn to be careful.

Oh, now I see that someone/ everyone already posted about the counter. I agree.

good – oh god – coffee please

  9. I can tell you’re having a helluva lot of fun decorating your (I mean your in-laws’) new digs!

  10. First, YAY for margaritaville and thanks for the mentionnnnnnnnn :)

But let’s talk about those kitchens, because they made me want to rip out everything I own and put mirrors on everything (can we change ‘out a bird on it, to put a mirror on it?). It’s funny that you posted this because I want a mirrored buffet/credenza (not the z gal kind, but the cool kind that makes people jealous) and I’m thinking I have to hack up a mid cent piece which is sad for some people, and a little sac relig even for me. But just wait until you see the 70″ long mirrored beast. I’m already excited. You should be too. Let’s celebrate furniture we don’t own yet with margaritas at the pool? por favor muchacho. arriba!

YES to “put a mirror on it.” I can help make this happen.

did you actually swim or just float? i prefer to float.

such good kitchen porn. I think I will save all of them.

Oh and I’m super excited to see the transformation of their pad!! In the meanwhile, enjoy that pool.
