It’s that time of year, y’all — the time of year when the whole world slows down to a snail’s pace and everyone is on siesta time. That’s because (at least in our neck of the woods) it’s over 100 degrees outside and even walking out to the car forces a stinky sweat. I know you’re too hot to contemplate big fancy posts about the design world and stupid trends blah blah blah, so instead I’m going to tell you about all the window shopping I’ve been doing from the comfort of my air conditioned home.

I really want this dumb craigslist headboard so I can just be done with the neverending no headboard drama, but these stupid bitches won’t write me back. If it’s not available, delete the post, people! Anyway, I’m still pretending they are going to let me pick up this king sized, gold leafed, wood carved goodness. For $100 no less.

tie dyed sheets

Then I will pair it with my new white duvet and these cutie pie tie dyed sheets from Overstock. I love so many of the colors, but I’m pretty sure only ivory, rose or black, would look good with my stuff/paint color. Guess which one I’m going to pick? $36 bam!

Moving on from the bedroom, it’s time to replace our milk and cereal bar encrusted rug (thanks, Ike!).

I could buy the exact same leather braided rug we already have ($150 here), or I could shake things up… maybe like this.

Of course, who knows exactly what “this” is, since the picture is so craptacular? You’re killing me, craigslisters. Anyway, if I buy a totally different rug, then I will need… other totally different stuff. You know how it goes.

I’ve been eying Ikea’s Hovas sofa for a while now… it’s so cheap! But it’s white, and I explained what happened to the rug, right? But it’s slipcovered! But will I ever wash said slipcover? Hmmmm. Has anyone ever sat on this sucker? What do we think about it?

ikea vago

Speaking of Ikea, they reissued the wildly popular Vago patio chairs (thanks to Modfrugal for the tip!), and I’m dying for a set, but our store doesn’t stock them. I think you should all call your local congressman to complain.

And since I apparently only like black and white things (did you figure out which color sheets I want yet?), I’m thinking about running over to our local West Elm and picking up these blackened planters on sale. Or maybe I will just save myself some sweat and order them. I’m so environmentally aware.

Ok, maybe not, but I am aware that I’m lazy.

Stay cool, homies!

Are they not stocking them at all or just selling out super fast? Maybe there needs to be an Ikea inside job to make these happen for you, with said cohort issuing a VIP HOLD/SELL THESE VAGOS AND DIE kinda thing?

We’re thinking about making an ikea run to Houston get some lime-green kitchen chairs and a table–we could make it a group run! I might need some of those too, for around the firepit…

Collyn, I’ve been checking stock online DAILY since our local store is still a hike for us. I definitely need to get someone in there to do some dirty work for us.

Vickie, I really wish Ikea would ship site to store like other local retailers. But then again, it’s not like Houston is that much further than Round Rock, right? I still need to come and your your new manse — it’s looking awesome!

i have the ikea ektorp sofa (it’s the worst, but it was the only thing that fit my old apartment) with a white slip cover so i can say that YES, you will most definitely wash and bleach the slipcover. when your pet or baby throws up on it, or your mom spills red wine. we have washed that sucker more times than i can count, and it’s awesome. i now live in fear of sofas that don’t have washable slipcovers.

I can’t believe that headboard is carved wood. I thought it was brass. It’s fantastic. Effin’ craiglisters and their BS. It pisses me off to no end when people do not reply. As usual, you’ve found so many great buys. I love those sheets. They would be great for my boys’ rooms and I’ve seen those planters in person and was soooo close to buying them. They are great!

  6. The Denver IKEA opens next month and I cannot wait to frolic through its aisles.

Love the headboard. If I lived in Texas, I’d be arm-wrestling you for it…you know, if you heard back from the seller.

(I tried and failed to buy a dresser from someone similarly AWOL. Seriously, people, don’t list your shit if you DON’T WANT ME STALKING YOU.)

Re: sheets, do you have Tuesday Morning in Austin? If so, I urge you to get there post-haste. I’ve been indulging my addiction to fancy-pants Peacock Alley sheets there and now I cannot sleep on anything else. Join me in my luxury!

My Goodness! That’s some headboard. So cool – I hope you get to have it!

  9. You must have that headboard! Where’s the local hacker when you need them? With a hacker you could backtrace the craigslister, show up at their door before the barometer hits a billion (I’m gonna guess 4am?) and scream, “Gimme that table, you unresponsive bastards!” while shoving cash into their hands and forcing yourself into their house.

Don’t look at me like I’m crazy, this is a furniture emergency.

i am all about the white slipcover. I have one for my Room and Board Metro Sofa. I got two sets. I don’t rotate -the extra is in storage. I wash the cover every two-three months at a laundromat in the big machines. it’s awesome. Do it!Then you will always be grossed out at non-slipcovered sofas (well most of them-there are exceptions-leather-or high end upholstery if you have no pets or kids and never eat on it)!

Erin…as it turns out, the RR Ikea is so NOT a hike for me (been there three times already since we got here last week) Would be happy to look into this matter for you on my next jaunt!

    Oh, and 103 degrees? Really?
