I always counted purple as my least favorite color, mostly because it makes me look like have the stomach flu. But I’m developing a thing for rich aubergines and eggplants. Have I just succumbed to marketing since Benjamin Moore has forecasted Vintage Wine to be the color of 2011? Maybe. But at least I’m not falling for Pantone’s bile inducing pick, Honeysuckle (also, do they not know that honeysuckle is YELLOW not pink?!).

Look how kapow bam! dark purple is paired with marigold yellow. That cat knows what’s the bizness.
I don’t know about you dudes, but I desperately need a nap after surviving the first week back from holiday. If I’m not back by Monday afternoon, somebody sound the alarm. Happy weekend!

oh deep purple is an old favorite of mine–I am a sucker for anything in that gorgeous spectrum between wine-red and eggplant. Yum yum yum!
(Incidentally, my attempt to paint my new living room deep reddish purple got shot down by my better half. I can’t honestly blame him.)
You know I’m open to some grape flavah (did I just type that?!).
Happy weekend to you and KP!
Was just ogling a purple Puma handbag on gilt I may HAVE to buy due to it being a) purple and b)patent leather-y. Of course that’s a totally responsible decision with Baby Skullhead 4 weeks away from arrival (pleasepleasepleaseplease don’t come early) and our nursery still a derby for boxes, but I digress… These purples fucking rock. Especially with the yellow. And the cat.
Also just caught up on your posts this week so I will now post comments for previous posts so you do not miss their mighty majesty:
1) Your tale of meeting HB was both hilarious and touching. Yay for marrying hot nerds! Did that myself, best decision I ever made! (Also drinky o’clock made me nostalgic…soon)
2) The Dutch do do it historical and modern awesome! Your post on European museums was so on point and interesting I think I glowed. Love your brain. I would wax eloquent on your eloquence but pregnancy brain has taken over so all I’m coming up with is “You sure are smart”.
Better quit while I’m ahead.
i totally agree. honeysuckle is YELLOW. what were they thinking? also, when i read the end of this post i read, “i desperately need a lamp after surviving the first week back from holiday.” and i was like, me too.
Thank You.
Every time I see that Pantone honeysuckle, I think, yuck. Bile inducing, indeed.
i have never been a purple person until this past year. I’m about to paint my living room ceiling palest lilac. And I want vivid, bold purple on something big. I love that Vintage Wine color. Murky and tasteful.
Damn, Courtney, a lamp is so much better than a nap… I love you.
Ish, a little tear just escaped my eye. Thank you. I really needed that. And may Baby Skullhead’s arrival be quick, quiet, and deliriously pain free!
i like that shade on the wall, but i wouldn’t do the bedding in purple too. too much for me.
This room looks romantic as the color exudes
intimacy and spirituality. Place one cat, and just like magic,
it becomes elegant.
Love the purple, LOVE IT. Especially those dark, dirty, dusty looking purples. That wall colour is perfect. Yum.
I don’t mind a deep purple, but not on my walls. and I am not a fan of old yella. that cat is doing me right, though.
I’m totally okay with that cat.
THANK YOU! Is this the only place in the universe where people know that honeysuckle is yellow?!
My living room is this color scheme. Not as stylish, but I try. I love purple at home – our living room is a grayish purple.
